About Us | Harmony Home Taiwan

Harmony Home Foundation, Taiwan (Harmony Home, Taiwan) is a non-profit organization founded by Nicole Yang, who has been helping people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) since 1986. We are committed to providing shelter, care, treatment access, and support to people living with HIV/AIDS and their children in Taiwan. With two service centers in Taiwan, we shelter around 100 individuals including HIV-positive patients with disabilities, recovering intravenous drug users, HIV-positive women released from prison, men who have sex with men, migrant workers, and struggling foreigners.

Harmony Home, Taiwan believes in the empowerment and involvement of PLHA (People Living with HIV/AIDS). Many PLHA, especially women whose children are also housed in our shelters, are employed by Harmony Home as full-time assistants. Actively involved in advocating for the rights of PLHA, we hold HIV education and prevention campaigns for the general public. Our work facilitates better understanding of HIV/AIDS to reduce stigma and discrimination against PLHA. Since 1986, we have held campaigns for over 150,000 participants in schools, institutions, and local communities. We also assist PLHAs with finding employment opportunities until they can support themselves and live on their own.

Since 1997, we have offered another service: sheltering unlawful residents. Many of them are struggling migrant workers, victims of human trafficking, non-Taiwanese mothers, and their children. Our trained and qualified social workers provide aid to work against their difficulties, including torture, exploitation, and poor health and nutrition.

Today, Harmony Home, Taiwan takes care of over 150 non-Taiwanese children. To guarantee their right to a safer life, education, and health, we provide them with live-in care, as well as educational and medical assistance. It is projected that over 200 non-Taiwanese children will benefit from our programs.
